- Scope and ContentBy this stage Mrs Gordon is in poor financial circumstances and making wild and almost certainly unsubstantiated charges against Mr Safford. She looked after Alice for 4½ years till December 1894 when she was sent away to school at Brighton. After that Mrs Gordon lived in boarding houses in Kensington and Earls Court up to February 1894 then moved to Camborne Terrace, Richmond. Miss Langhorn, Alice's schoolmistress 1894 wouldn't have Alice back if spends holidays with Mrs Gordon. Failing to get money out of Mr Safford, she was forced to leave 6 Camborne Terrace, Petersham Road, Richmond. She then moved to 8 West Bolton Gardens, South Kensington and then became totally destitute.
