I thought I had better write a few lines to let you know I am well, so that you need not trouble about me. When a fellow gets soldiering he forgets about home. I have been out of hospital about 6 weeks, and the spots of scurvy are as bad as ever on my chest. We have 1½ hours marching order every day now - we only used to have it once a week. Thank you for your paper you sent me; I saw the 2 peices in it you marked, one about poor old J. Jenkins - I knowed him well; and I saw the peice about old Poulter. You said something about Vin (?) joining my regiment, but I never shall persuade him to do it - we know he don't care about the low life, but still he is better out of it.
