Photograph of Kempston Rovers Football Club supporters posting near the Kempston War Memorial before embarking on five coached for Hinchin Brooke Park, Huntingdon for a cup match. Two of the buses are 'Bedfordia Coaches' - one a Thorneycroft was coachbuilt by Nicholls & Son, Bedford and first registered TM501 by Bedfordshire County Council on 25 March 1927. The other a 'Reo' "Allweather Coach" (TM 2751) was registed on 30 April 1928. One of the the buses was owned by Cyril Symes of Kempston; another by the "Dreadnought Omnibus Co." [Hardroofed coach with luggage rack on roof.] This company was run by Mr Clench of 13 Cutcliffe Grove, Bedford, who got into serious financial difficulties in 1929 when his coaches were repossessed [information R Barton, Surveyor's Department, County Hall]. The fifth coach cannot be positively identified but looks similar to the two Thorneycrofts in X591/7. Two coach drivers are standing on the right hand side of the group [wearing long driver's coats and peaked caps with cap badges], at the rear of TM 501.
