Letter from L Jessopp to Maria Steel. "I thought at the time it was a pity you pressed on the investment in consols with so much hurry but of course the money can be obtained by a sale of part of the stock and invested in the mortgage if Mr Garfit will agree ... I have received this morning from the bishop the order confirming the award of the dilapidations. I return Mr Deane's letter. If you prefer it I will of course write to Mr Garfit but I think it will be better for you or John to do so"
