Letter from James Elmes, 29 Charlotte Street, Portland Place, [London] to William Wilshere. Will be at Bedford on Monday and Tuesday to measure up and value the extra works and present it early on Wednesday and will then leave for Oxford, on his way to Milford Haven to embark for Waterford, where he is to superintend the new house of correction, nearly a duplicate of that at Bedford. Is short of money and therefore solicits his 'friend, whose kindness I shall not speedily forget' for a loan. 'I also hope that my little pamphlet on dilapidations, does no discredit to the name to which you kindly gave me leave to inscribe it'
