- TitleStatement: Ross & Cromarty militia fired on the populace of Aberdeen without a magistrate's order, killing four people and wounding others. Ensign Lanigan, Captain Macdonagh & Sergeants Mackay and Sutherland were committed to trial for murder. The Lord Advocate had the case transferred to Edinburgh, & the prisoners were released in transit, & he refused to proceed. The relatives did so, & all were acquitted except Lanigan who was a fugitive. They should not have been acquitted.
