- Scope and Content… to friend John Walker, Eaton Socon, innholder - messuage called The Falcon in Eaton Socon now in occupation of son, Richard Hall in trust to permit son, Richard Hall, to receive rents and profits for life and after his death to permit Mary Hall, wife of said Richard, to receive said profits so long as she remain a widow. After her death or remarriage, then to her children by Richard. If he has no children, then said premises devised to all other children equally … to son Richard Hall - £200 to be paid within 12 months … to son William Hall - malting, yard and new erected house at Eaton Socon, with kiln, house mill now in occupation of himself and son William Hall - Barnards Holmes closes in Eaton Socon said son William to keep in good repair and at his expense, the pale fence which divides the estate given in trust for Richard, and the above estate so given to William - implements and utensils in trade or business of malster and butcher, and 2 carts with harness usually employed in the same businesses it his will that said William shall become tenant of house, orchard and premises rented of Duke of Bedford and of the land belonging to poor of Sandy if wife chooses to reside in last mentioned house she shall and may and have use of such household goods as she shall choose. She shall permit son Samuel to dwell with her until he can provide himself with a proper situation in business He remits to son William, all rent he may owe him at his decease … to son Samuel - £800 of which £400 is to be paid within 3 calendar months of his decease, £200 more at end of 18 calendar months, and remaining £200 within 2½ years … to daughter Edith Wagstaff - £200 to be paid within 12 months … to son Humphrey Hall - £200 to be paid within 12 months, provided that he executes a bond in penalty of £200 not to exercise the business of a butcher in Eaton Socon, within 1 month of testator's decease … to wife Ann Hall for life - messuage or farm in Eaton Socon, late Hoare's, and all other real estate not disposed of after her death, then to said John Walker on trust, and then to son, John Hall, subject to payment of £200 to each of other children, within 2 years of her decease wife shall permit said John Hall to occupy farm, late Hoare's, at yearly rent of £80 all hovels in rickyard and all implements used on said farm to be sold to said son John at fair valuation concerning trust term of 500 years it is limited to John Walker to mortgage estates to pay legacies and charges, in case of legal disability of heirs … to sons, John Hall and William Hall equally - all money, personal estate etc. they to pay legacies, expenses etc. … to wife Ann Hall - £50 to be paid immediately after his decease - annual sum of £10 … to said 4 children, Humphrey Hall, Samuel Hall, Richard Hall and Edith Wagstaff - £50 each Ann Hall, John Walker and said 2 sons John Hall and William Hall appointed executrix and executors signed by William Hall (who also signs every sheet) witnesses: Daniel Abbott, John Boot, J Wells
