Writes that he should give 'the enclosed' to Ernest Trotter as 'he is lawyer to the estate'; that 'we are all well so far; as you know, both my boys are in the fighting line, Jack with Bob in the 5th D G's [Dragoon Guards] and Bobbie in the Norfolks, there have been casualties in both Regiments but as far as I know both have been spared; that they last heard from Jack by letter dated August 30 and from Bobbie by letter, dated 4 September, this morning saying he was very 'fit and well'
