Description and outpouring of grief on death of daughter, Mary Stuart Cocks [buried 9 December 1854, aged 6 years] 'Sometimes people think a child's death ought not to cause such bitter sorrow but those who speak lightly of it have never known it.' 'The accounts of Mr Cocks are not quite as good as I would wish...but the doctor seems satisfied.' Reference to the Staffordshire militia and the Crimea. Mention of daughter Agneta and Amabel, and of brother Charles.
