  • Scope and Content
"Dear Mr Underwood, Thank you very much for your letter of 18th last. I was very interested to hear the results of your researches into the Preston family. As you say to establish beyond doubt a direct descent from the original bearer of the arms down to Miss Amy Preston would be a lengthy process and probably costly too, and I think you are wise in not pursuing it. I feel pretty confident myself, from the information given, that she was a descendent of the Bedfordshire Prestons. The Cople, Willington, Cardington villages are the ones with which the family has always been very much tied up. Thank you also for the copy of the Chapter House plans. I am sure the new building with all mod. cons. will be a great asset to the Church and the community. Have building operations started yet? You were certainly lucky with the tender you accepted. I always feel the more highly priced ones come from people who do not really want the job. Thank you for your good wishes. Yours sincerely, Norah E Tacchi"
