Nathaniel Polhill late of Southwark, Surrey, esquire, deceased, by will of 14 June 1782 devised all property to eldest son Nathaniel for life and then to his son, and then to his 2nd son John (i)) etc., and then to 3rd son Edward etc., and then to 4th son Robert etc., and then to daughter Mary
Benjamin Way and Robert Maitland appointed trustees to preserve contingent remainders, as to freehold estates, and leasehold estates also given to them in trust to pay profits to persons entitled etc.
Testator died on 30 August 1782. Will proved 11 September 1782 (Prerogative Court of Canterbury)
Son Nathaniel died on 30 November, leaving widow Ursula, now wife of James Ware, and only son Nathaniel, an infant
No guardian appointed for son, but Robert Maitland, maternal uncle, and Benjamin Way entered into possession of the property as trustees. They paid for education of said Nathaniel and invested rest in 3% Consols
Nathaniel Polhill (grandson of testator) died on 19 April 1802, under 21, and administration of goods and chattels passed to Ursula Ware, under order of Prerogative Court of Canterbury of 12 May 1802
In 1799 Benjamin Way and Robert Maitland entered into 4 contracts with Commissioners for the counties of Bedford, Surrey and Sussex and town of Bedford, for redemption of land tax, which they paid for by transfer of part of stock invested in 3% Consols
On death of grandson there remained one instalment on each contract and Robert Maitland paid them out of said funds
iii) in Easter term 1804 preferred Bill of Complaint in Chancery against i), ii) and Robert Maitland and Benjamin Way. Payments not made legally to be repaid to Ursula. Asked that a rent charge, equivalent to amount of land tax redeemed, to be paid to her, since death of Nathaniel, grandson
Report made by the Master of the Rolls in 25 June 1805 and confirmed by Order of 26 June. Report mentions redemption of land tax in town of Bedford in 1799:

On 13 July 1799 Robert Maitland transferred 1st payments of redemption to the Commissioners of the Reduction of the National Debt, and afterwards became ill and so affairs of Nathaniel, grandson, were managed by v) as agent for Robert Maitland
On 21 July 1802 was covenant between v), i) and Mr Bicknell, solicitor, by which v) gained idea that i) would replace said stock which had been purchased for redemption of land tax and that i) would be entitled to sell part of estate to make good such payments.
at time of his death Nathaniel, grandson, was 20 years 10 months old.
by order of the Lord Chancellor on 17 July 1805, iii) were entitled to 4 several annuities charged on estates of testator Nathaniel Polhill, in Sussex, Bedford and Surrey and the town of Bedford, to amount of the land tax redeemed. Annuities to be paid from 19 April 1802 (total sum involved - £10,864..9s..9d in Consols)
deeds to be made to charge the 4 annuities on the several estates and to be confirmed by ii) when 21
i) has agreed, as far as he lawfully can, to convey property for purpose of creating such annuities, and ii) is joined with him
on account of the coverture of Ursula, a trustee is deemed advisable for the personal representatives of Nathaniel, grandson, and v) has been named as such trustee by iii)
