    wife Dame Mary Harriett Burgoyne, brother-in-law Henry Bowden, friend William Frederick Johnstone, esquire, late a Captain and Lieutenant in 1st or Grenadier Regiment of Foot Guards and Thomas Mott, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire, gentleman, appointed executrix and executors of will and guardians of children, John Montagu Burgoyne and Mary Caroline Burgoyne to William Frederick Johnstone and Thomas Mott … £100 apiece as mark of regard 'in case they shall respectively prove my said will' to said wife … all monies, personal estate etc. subject to payment of said legacies and funeral expenses to son John Montagu Burgoyne … all manors, lands, real estate etc. other sons to take in remainder and seniority in age. In default to use of daughter Mary Caroline Burgoyne for life and then to her sons. If no sons, then to daughters as tenants in common If no children or grandchildren, then to wife for life and then to brother Montagu George Burgoyne and his sons and then his daughters. If no such issue then to sister Charlotte Catherine Frances the wife of the Reverend Gilbert Rodbard Blackburn, and her sons. In default of such issue then to sister Marrianne Catherine wife of said Henry Bowden, for life and then to her sons and then her daughters. Any part of Manor, lands etc. may be leased for term of years not exceeding 7. Will dated 17 Apr 1852 Probate (Prerogative Court of Canterbury) of Sir John Montagu Burgoyne who died on 17 March 1858 at Inverness Terrace, Kensington Gardens, Middlesex Sworn at under £12,000 31 May 1858
