- Scope and ContentErasmus Middleton was one of six students expelled from the university of Oxford in March 1768 for praying, reading and expounding the Scriptures. He was ordained in Scotland and took up a post as Pastor in Dalkeith where he met his wife. He moved to London with positions in Chelsea and Westminster and became well known for his Biographia Evangelica published in 4 volumes. He took up post as Rector of Turvey in 1804 and died in 1805. This item comprises: memoir of the late Erasmus Middleton dated August 1805; memoir of Mrs Middleton dated 1802; cover of Biographia Evangelica; photograph of Erasmus Middleton taken from a miniature painted when he was at Chelsea; various notes by H.G.
