    i) Sir Roger Burgoyne, Sutton, baronet ii) Hale Wortham, Royston, Cambridgeshire, gentleman reciting lease and release of 29 and 30 December 1738 [see X115/112, X115/113] a) Sir Roger Burgoyne b) George, Earl of Halifax George Mountagu, commonly called Lord Sunbury, son of said Earl Lady Frances Mountagu, one of the daughters of said Earl c) Richard, Earl of Scarborough Sir Thomas Saunderson, K.B. d) Thomas Archer, Pirgoe, Essex, esquire Henry Archer, Inner Temple, London, esquire reciting marriage in contemplation and since solemnised a) released to Earl of Halifax and Lord Sunbury … Manor of Sutton etc., … great wood and wood ground (250 acres) in Potton … wood and ground called Ridings and Lawnes in Potton … Twenty Acre Wood Piece in Potton to secure jointure of £600 for Lady Frances in case she survives a) and then for their sons with agreement that when by exchanges and improvements the rents of the settled property in Sutton should amount to £1,300 per annum, then it might be lawful for a) to revoke trusts as to woods in Potton reciting also a deed enrolled in Chancery of same date 1) Sir Roger Burgoyne 2) George, Earl of Halifax Lady Frances Mountagu 3) Sir Thomas Saunderson Henry Archer reciting mortgage to Sir John Evelyn etc. for £8,000 and rest of lands of 1) in Sutton and Potton were mortgaged to Sir Samuel Luke to secure £3,000. In consideration of the intended marriage 1) bargained and sold to 3) … Manor and lordship of Potton etc., in trust to raise such money as shall be sufficient to pay all money due on mortgage to Sir Samuel Luke reciting that i) soon after his marriage out of his own money paid to Sir Samuel Luke the said sum of £3,000 and said mortgage was cancelled reciting deed of 27 March 1742. Improvements on estate amount to £1,300 a year so trusts in above deed of 29 and 30 December 1738 are made void and woods and premises appointed to use of i) [see X115/109] reciting lease and release of 2 and 3 May 1743 [see X115/110, X115/111] A) George, Earl of Halifax Thomas, Earl of Scarborough, late Sir Thomas Saunderson Henry Archer, Inner Temple, London, esquire B) Sir Roger Burgoyne A) confirmed to B) … Great Wood, the Ridings and Lawnes and Twenty Acre Wood Piece all in Potton reciting that i) having expended very large sums of money in improvements of said estates has requested ii) to lend him £2,000 on the mortgage of the said woods now in consideration of £2,000 i) releases to ii) … Great Wood (250 acres) … Ridings and Lawndes in Potton … Twenty Acre Wood in Potton to secure repayment of £2,080 various provisions for repayment.
