    Copy will of John Simons of Eversholt, yeoman “being Sick of Body”: - devising the cottage in which he lived, except the kitchen and next bay of housing, to his daughter Lidda/Lidia when she became 21 with one little close of arable of two acres adjoining; - devising to his wife Anne the kitchen and next bay of housing of the cottage for her life; - devising a little close called Well Mead of two acres and a pightle called Penny Furlong of one acre to his wife; - if his wife outlived his daughter and the daughter had no issue the remainder of the cottage was to be devised to his wife; there was to be no felling of wood, except for repairs or topping for firewood during the life of his daughter; if his daughter outlived his wife the remainder of the cottage and all lands devised to his wife were to be devised to his daughter; - bequeathing to his daughter one joined bedstead and bedding, one joined coffer, one joined press cupboard, one great pewter dish in the parlour, one table and four joined stools, one joined chair, six smaller pewter dishes in the hall, one great kettle and one brass porridge pot when she became 21; - bequeathing to Thomas Frail [later called a kinsman] of Little Brickhill [Buckinghamshire], tailor the close called Tonter Close of three acres in Eversholt adjoining Well Mead E and a way to Church End S as long as Frail discharged debts to the value of £60; - bequeathing the residue of his estate to his wife whom he appointed sole executrix, appointing kinsmen Thomas Frail and James Gregory as overseers to whom he gave 10/- each to buy a mourning ring; - witnesses: Richard Harthorne, by mark, John Wildman and Henry Clemson
