Originally formed as the Luton Group of the English Folk Dance Society in 1948 the group enjoyed an active programme of meetings and events until a decline in active members forced the group to close in December 2016. The history of the group up to its 40th anniversary is given in the booklet 'Forty Years (& more) of Folk, catalogued here as Z1646/3.
Archival history
The last honorary secretary made great efforts to locate all the surviving AGM minutes of the society for hand over to the record office, unfortunately those minutes for the years 1949-1955 are believed to have been destroyed by damp while in storage.
