  • Date free text

  • Production date
    From: 1815 To: 1815
  • Scope and Content
Defence of his conduct in the Westminster riots. The reason that 50 instead of 80 constables attended was owing to the shortness of the notice, the men being dispersed over 9 parishes, and some had to be left to guard the Parish watch houses. Writer was on duty the whole time, and after he had distributed the constables to protect the Houses of Parliament had very few left. Relied on the magistrates who were present to call out the military. Does not feel he neglected his duty.
