From 2nd Earl de Grey, Admiralty to 9th Earl Haddington: Ordered ‘The Lightening/Lightning’ to be sent to Dublin, and put at Haddington’s disposal. This will be maintained by the Admiralty, and can be replaced by ‘The Comet’ at a future date if required. Reports the House of Commons nearly abolished all the King’s yachts, which were only saved by the sacrifice of the Irish yacht.
