    Waddilove sets out in a bad season. Brings letter for Nanny and Therese, also waistcoats as Masserano's departure time uncertain. Latter knew of Lady Warwick's house but Grantham thinks he will have Leicester House (secret). The new Portuguese and his wife will soon be in England "I do not know them but she is very ugly". Confectioner ill, hopes he will be able to supervise preparations for 30th. Concert and supper at Munro's this evening. Grantham thinks it will be poor as the Ladies invited to sing will refuse, thinks [Munro’s] spirits and assurance will carry him through. Violent rain keeps them at home toasting cheese and talking English with Fitzwilliams. Waddilove carrying letters to other of their friends in order that he may become known to them. Has written to Mr. Weddell and the Piedmontine Embassador. Sabbatini dines today to look over Campbell's Vitruvius Brittanicus. Predicts they will dwell longer on the page for Newby than that for St. Paul’s or Whitehall Palace. Mr. Maddox, mechanical performer, has opened his Museum, hopes he makes money or he will apply to Grantham.
