    Lord Lyttleton's death. Conversation and surprize lasted but one day. Charles Fox's duel no longer talked of. Blame and ridicule on his antagonist. Grantham's succeeding to Chief Justiceship of Eyre rumoured. Lord Charles Spencer has kissed hands for the Treasureship of the Chambers. Hasn't heard Mr. Parker's reaction to the death of his colleague. Miss Mary [Pelham]expecting to hear from Nanny. Lady Katherine [Pelham?] and the Duke of Newcastle's quarrel. No correspondence between families. Lady Jane Scott is dead. Some say she has left everything to Lady Frances, others that it goes to children of an old servant. Attended two poor Operas. Dined with Lady Holdernesse, Lord Pelham, Mr. Cleveland and Miss Lenox. Latter living with Lady Holdernesse. The Queen has broken her nose in a dangerous overturn at Richmond. The King was driving. Getting house in order until something more effectual can be done. Hasn't yet consulted Dr. Warren. Wants to make journey to Bath as near Christmas as he can. May need the keys of the presses in the Housekeeper's room below stairs to store baggage from Custom House.
