Happy new year. Received letters from Grantham through Portugal and France. Lord & Lady Middleton and Mr. Brodrick left yesterday. Lady Middleton stronger. Lewes Assembly last Friday. Lucy [Pelham] made her first public appearance. Going to Town on Saturday with Tom[Pelham]. Walked to see him at Brighthelmstone. Frost and high winds a few trees lost. Admiral Keppel's Trial, great crowd expected. Duke of Richmond determined to attend, though not recovered from dangerous illness. Hope little girl hasn't forgotten him.
