  • Scope and Content
Received her letters from Blandford and Saltram. Glad little girl [niece] well. Pelhams all well, Fanny looking better than she did in Town. Tom has been to Lewes once, going again tomorrow on Militia business. Want of men, may be a while before they are embodied. Letters from Grantham, sorry Nanny's indicated that he was in poor spirits. The ‘Arethusa’s’ engagement will perhaps bring affairs to a crisis, may be better able to judge the possibility of them all being together. Life at Stanmer. Mr. Offley expected. Bishop Worcester, Mrs. North and the Bannisters came from Brighthelmstone. Other tea drinking visits. Brighthelmstone thin, fear of a visit from the French will keep it so. Races at Blandford in favour of Mr. Coffin, those at Lewes are the 30th of this month and the two following days. Will not attend. Love to Parkers, thank little girl for her message.
