- Scope and ContentHealth now good. Draper convinced he had gout. Las Casas sent little boy's [nephew- John Parker] picture, excessively delighted with it, longs to see original, had look of cleanness and health possessed by few Spanish children. Awaiting Colonel Ross with picture of nephew. Draper has paid Nanny some money on Fritz's account. Assume Waddilove will bring shirts. Newby burnt up, but until last few days only just warm enough in Spain to sip outdoors. Did so with a company of 20 people in their Cour Ornee; looking glasses and sconces on walls, statue of Neptune illuminated like an altar. Ladies present were Madame Fuentes, Madame Bejar, Madame Villahermosa & Madame Perrelada. Not easy to get together four ladies who are at all connected with one another etc... Little opportunity for them to have met previously. Madame Werthern suckles her child which Fritz considers wise, will be an occupation for her, and he would not choose a Spanish nurse. Hope life at Studley is as easy and cheerful as usual.
