Update on work at Newby [Park]. T. Smith and arrangements for horses. Dr. and Mrs. Cowper passed through Topcliffe, glad they were mistaken about one of Grantham's sons being ill. Lawrence and son in Ripon yesterday. Gave the Ringers 10/6 for 1783. Said Mr. Weddell wasn't well. Has sent nothing for the Church Pavement yet. Thought Sancha's Notices might be useful to Maty [sic]. Diego has left. Has written to Campo and Munro for their services. Diego may stay with Mr. George Swann for a while. Requests Grantham sent letters to Mr. Walpole, Sir J. Hart and Mr. Whitehead, for Mr. Geo. Swann (son of his Banker at York) who is going to settle as a Merchant at Oporto.
