    Hopes he is better. Thanks for his Benefaction to the Church of Ripon has added his name to the Pavement Subscription. Hopes his Colleagye [Lawrence?] will do the same. Wants another blank Hospital Recommendation. Lord Grantley gave five guineas towards the [Fire]Engine. Suspects the Town Clerk a little in that Interest and so [W.] lay down Frederick Robinson's subscription for him, other reasons for doing so, when they meet. Laurence was in Ripon when Grimston was chosen Mayor. Corn Prices high. Subscription for the poor proposed. Laurence subscribed five guineas, the old and new Mayors three guineas each, Alderman one or two guineas each. The Clergy assisted a collection in the town. Mrs. Allanson gave £25, Waddilove three guineas. Corn bought yesterday cost 7/7d/ per Bl. [Bale], will be retailed out at 4/6d tomorrow. Weekly meetings about the Business. Recommends the poor of Topcliffe Parish to Lord and Lady Grantham, will distribute anything they offer for them. Waddilove has already given two guineas to the Township of Topcliffe Subscription. County Massin's Prints, wishes to send them by Lord Mountstuart or anyone else going to Turin. If Lord Cornwallis goes to the East Indies can Trevor Wheler there be mentioned to him. Waddilove's nephew sailed last week in 'the Iphigenia' with the other Men of War for the East Indies. Kisses the hands of Don Ignacio de Heredia, not returned yet, probably could send letter to Bayer by him or Munro. "The ArchBishop is much satisfied - and with Lord Keppel etc...". Had front and deeper snow than for some years. Glad the Grantham's are well. Waddilove's son's teething now better. P.S. Who goes to Worcester "My ResinSp. Is a most unprofitable Honour" Enclosure to be franked and sent to E. Drummond, Silsoe, Bedfordshire.
