  • Scope and Content
Glad to hear so good an account of the Westminster Play, [news]papers condemned it as usual. Hopes the rioters there were not Westminster boys. Fritz's Bill of Fare read well. Lord Gower will some day get a Title "that is to swallow up Lady Sutherland's". Thanks for asking Campo about his parcels. Stone figures; supposes Flaxman recommended them to Montagu. Grantham still thinks they are the same as those at the Stone Manufactory. Montagu at the Dean's daily expecting news of young Mrs. Wilson's death. Weddell leaves the Country on Tuesday. He has become very deaf. Will see Fritz as soon as he gets to Town. Waddilove begged for a studio rose. Expecting Belwood soon. Mickle has recommended Lindsay to Lord Milgrave who “injudiciously employs him". Sir Thos.[Frankland] staying over, discusses his schemes etc..., brief update on works at Newby [Park]. [Later] Sir Thos. And Weddell much entertained by Grantham's prints, those they have seen. Ralph [Worsley] wrote, says he can spend six weeks of his vacation much cheaper at Firbeck than College. Fritz to write to him when he has determined on his journey. Glad [Dr] Warren pleased with Fritz's account of Grantham's health. His appetite is better, has had golden plovers, woodcocks, pheasant and pig from Weddell's. Philip dismayed as he'd seen it alive. Clearing his room, transport of books goes well. Sir Metcalf's papers are some of them very bad. Brief mention of livestock.
