- Date free text30 Nov 1785
- Production dateFrom: 1785 To: 1785
- Scope and ContentReceived his very satisfactory letter today. Update on Grantham's health. Fears Warren was going to Lady Fitzwilliam, may hear more at Weddell's tomorrow. Going alone as Mrs. Weddell is not coming down [to Yorkshire]. Waddiloves spending a day at Newby [Park] next week. A Ripon report said that Miss Laurence was to marry a Colonel Care [Case?] living at Bedale and nearly 50 years old. Grantham has never heard of him besides a faint recollection of a group by than name who walked through the Park one day. Alderney cows and calf at Welbeck. The Duke's Agent didn't know they were for Grantham. Work to start behind the Stables to get ground from the river bank etc. Fritz's house sounds comfortable, glad it's warm, "Mrs. Carew would not have allowed [admitted] it, although it had been an Oven". Hope the Papers have come to Fritz's, didn't appear at Newby [Park]. Waddilove remembered Grantham's Birthday today, drank his health. Parliament meeting a week after the Birthday, not much to say on either side, little of Ireland etc... Hope the Police will be seriously attended to. Children well. Cutting out for them and looking at books of prints. Kindest Love.
