Scope and Content
"Just to thank you for your Easter card and the account of the Queen's visit to St.Albans. I hope you note the improvement(?) in my handwriting. I may say that the change in style is due to a book on handwriting I picked up in a shop a few days ago. I am now tring to model my script on a style called Chancery Script. I must say I find it rather heavy going at the moment, but I daresay in time I shall develop a nice easy flowing style. Anyway I think it will be an improvement on the style I have been using for some years now, which seems to be a hotch-potch of long-hand and Sanserif! I wrote to poor old Newby but I told him I did not expect him to reply. I know his hands are very crippled. I am afraid we are having a very cold, unsettled holiday. I have a friend on leave from the Navy staying a day or two. We walked round Richmond Park yesterday (about 7 miles I believe), dodging the showers. Godfrey Place is a Commander now.
I was going to ask you what had become of Reggie Hill. Will they take him in the Army for his military service? And is his old mother still alive?
