  • Scope and Content
Lord Grey has taken the house in Sackville Street even though Mr. Ley's letter to Crighton was by no means approving of Lord Grey's proposals. When Anne knows about Miss Harris's house she will write to Crighton with respect to getting one for me. Mrs. Chetwynd?'s house is disposed of, supposes it an arrangement of long standing, knows Miss Brudenel "has had a promise for a great while". Thinks Lady Sydney was at Lord Ailsbury's when she received Mrs. Robinson's letter so that whilst it did not succeed it refreshed his memory. Sale of Merafield (Devon?), all money received and in Bank at Plymouth. Hired housekeeper and all servants discharged. Hoping to live now with great economy. Hoping to have all Scotch Firs down in a week. Pleasant week spent at Moutn Edgcumbe. Theresa writing to Jack with full details. Lord Carmarthen's Match, Lady Mount Edgcumbe very indignant about it, can't understand it as she has neither beauty, fortune or connection etc...when she was at Tunbridge she looked upon her as a toadeater of Lady North's. So warm in the Blew Room they have no fire until they come in from their walk after dinner.
