Tom and Molly married this morning at eight. Set out for Bath in the diligence at nine, propose being in Newby on Saturday. He was in great spirits and unrepentant. Glad to see him, having come from Frederick and Jack so recently. Obliged for their settling the affair so well. Molly is a remarkable good worker, hopes she can maintain herself with his sister. Tom is thankful and promises to behave well. Anne's plans; would not dislike Miss Harris's house if furnished. Would not like Sackville Street but Spring Garden would do if there is nothing nearer to Frederick. Lady Mount Edgcumbe invited them there whenever they want. Mr. and Mrs. Ley are at Saltram at present. Mr. Edgcumbe well. Lady Edgcumbe much pleased at Stanmer, thought Emily the prettiest creature she'd ever seen and wondered at Lord Gage's conduct as "whoever got one of them would get a prize", will not tell Lady Pelham so, Mr. Gage is walked of for Miss Skinner, Lady Abingdon's niece. Hope Sir James Harris will be able to go to Newby. Lady Stainforth wrote about Cross Stitch work, Anne has chosen a pattern that Mrs. Fox is working on and which Lady Louisa Clayton has asked her to send, hasn't seen it yet. Interrupted in the clearing out of papers and doing Mr. Pearce's accounts by Lady Edgcumbe. Still working on it. Mr. Montagu is come when Mr. Ley has gone. Wants some venison. Tom Hart discharged yesterday. Going back to Quarry for work having no money to maintain himself. Miss Ley is very pretty, sharp and wild, eight years old. Little Girl [Therese] enjoying her company. George and Mrs. Hardinge coming to Teingmouth[sic]. Mr. Ley staying all week, Mrs. Ley going for two days into Plymouth to Mr. Gandy's. Mr. Pearce sending a copy of things to be sold and let etc...at Mr. Ley's direction. Thinning of Plantations and Shrubbery only applies to the Scotch Firs in the Green walk which they have all condemned but she will be sparing and careful with. Compliments to Mr. Andrewes, Jack and Mrs. Robinson.
