- Scope and ContentMr. Parker better than when she wrote last. Richard Worsley had left Plymouth before they arrived and is currently on Captain Sawyer's ship. Captain Hope would have taken him but a Guardship is a bad thing for him to belong to too long. Captain Keppel has offered to take him with him to Newfoundland. Captain Dumaresque thinks him a good Captain to go with. Should accept offer if Aunt Stainforth approves. Have only seen Mr. Radcliffe since they arrived. Dining at Warleigh tomorrow. Mr. Ley has promised to bring the Boy down when Parliament finished. Edgecombs/Edgecombes[sic] and Haywoods not in the Country, Bastards not yet arrived. Mr. John Bastard is to be chosen next Tuesday at Truro by Sir T. Basset's interest against Lord Falmouth. Bad account of Lord Ashburton, virtually blind, Colonel Barré's quack doctor to treat him. Arch going on. Making Hay on Lawn but little grass due to want of rain. Glad Tom [nephew] begins to speak. Supposes Lady Bell is with them by this time.
