Assumes the Almanack by Mr. Mallett was sent by Frederick. Very pleased with it. Going to Mr. Anscott's tomorrow for two or three days. Setting out for London on the first of next month. Glad he avoided a fit of the Gout whilst drinking the waters [at Bath]. Major Chiselden of the Leicester Regiment dined, gave a bad account of the Hows[?] at Belvoir. Tom [Pelham's] marriage to the Dean's daughter is the Exeter news, "they are famous for invention...as well as at Plymouth". Newly raised Regiments there are going abroad. The 'Daphny' Frigate is reputedly taken by Paul Jones.
