by endorsement on back of said deed, dated 2 July 1697, it was stated that £6,000 was still owed by a) to b)
reciting bond of 2 March 1692 by which said Earl of Bolingbroke became bound to Joseph Keble of Gray's Inn, Middlesex, esquire, in £4,000 to secure repayment of £2000 on 5 September 1692 and interest at 5½%. Joseph Keble was declared to be trustee for Edward Pickering. Said sum was still owing at date of endorsement
reciting bond of 8 August 1693 by which said Earl of Bolingbroke became bound to Edward Pickering in £1,000 to secure repayment of £500 and interest of 5%. Said amount still owing at date of endorsement
reciting also a bond of 2 July 1695 between said Earl and Edward Pickering in £1,000 to secure repayment of £500 and 5% interest. This £500 is still owing at date of endorsement
reciting bond of even date with said endorsement, by which said Earl became bound to Edward Pickering in £1,600 to secure repayment of £800 and 5% interest
It was also agreed that property in above mortgage should be security for said principal sums
By an endorsement on back of said deed it was mentioned that said Earl had agreed to sell to Daniel Pointon of Shefford, tanner, for £148, a dwelling house and tanyards etc. in Shefford, in occupation said Daniel Pointon, Richard FitzRichard and Mathew Heddy (3 roods), also 2 acres pasture late arable in Meppershall and 2 acres 3 roods arable in common fields of Campton and Shefford late in occupation William Noddings, and Edward Pickering, a mortgagor, surrendered said property to Earl, to perfect said sale
said Sir Samuel Ongley has purchased from said Earl, all the manors in said demise and by deed dated 31 December 1700 paid to i) said sums of £2,000, £500, £500, and £800
Said Sir Samuel Ongley on 17 December 1708 paid to i) a further £3,500 and cleared all interest due, so only £2,500 remains due of principal on said mortgage
On 27 June 1710 Sir Samuel Ongley paid £700 to i) and cleared all interest on remaining £2,500 and also paid £62..10s interest on remaining £1,800
He paid a further £700 to i) on 18 April 1711
Various decrees were made in Chancery, 12 March and 8 Dececmber 1708 concerning the Pickering property
£1,100 now remains due of said mortgage money and £150..16s for interest
now in consideration of £1,250 and 16s paid by Sir Samuel Ongley to i)
i) transfers to Richard Swift and Robert Hindley in trust for Sir Samuel Ongley
... all manors and lordships of Stanford, lands, woods, courts leet and courts baron etc.
