  • Scope and Content
Hopes his first arrival [since returning from Spain] was not too traumatic [given Therese's death since he was last there]. Warm and affectionate regards. They are all sitting around the Library table, it being Sunday night. Lord Pelham has just made her confess to whom she is writing. Love and compliments to Miss Robinson and Mr. Parker. Tom dined there today with his Lieutenant "to keep up his Dignity and to preserve the Idea of his Military Duty". Agreed and confessed by Colonel Hay that Tom is best Officer in Corps. Heard from Yorkshire that Mr. Smelt [Leonard?] is returning to Court. The King has pressed for it and apartments are fitted up for him at Windsor.
