Travelled from Cullumpton to Bath in coach with a Mr Howard, who knew who he was and invited him to see him at his estate in Bedfordshire. Said he had been in Smyrna, Constantinople, Petersburgh and Madrid and was just come from the No. Of Ireland and Bodmin. Howard's compliments to Lord Lansdown. Dined at Mr Pelham's at Bath. Met Mr Cholmondly. Harry Pelham looking poorly, talking of going to Aix le Chapelle. Went to Mrs Stuarts with Mr Pelham to drink tea, saw fireworks. Mr Andrewes conducted his business at Zeal. Aunt Nanny in good spirits. Dining at Bowood tomorrow. Mrs Montagu have a shocking dinner of only three courses of seven, and seven different courses of fish or of desert. Her youngest boy very spoilt and disagreeable. Eldest at school. P.S. Harry much better. Both will go to Aix le Chapelle.
