"Enclosed herewith are some of the copies of the service for the Patronal Festival Sunday afternoon. I have given the number of the hymn in A. and M. which has the tune. I am afraid I am at a complete loss to find anyone to start a class for young children in the Church Hall in three weeks' time. Ever since Mrs Hardwick gave up, I have tackled various people. My hope that Miss Gault would do it and train up a new staff of teachers seems to have vanished: but even in her case, she was not willing to start until the young teachers had had some preparation. I feel now that the only thing to do is to link it on to the Catechism and this I cannot do until I have come back from S.A. After all, there is Cunliffe at the Parish Church every Sunday afternoon, and it is not our fault if the children will not go. But the door is open. Would it be any better if Cunliffe were transferred to the Church Hall? This problem is only one of many in the Church at the present time. But I think that when I do get started with the Catechism, I shall be able to get some of the young people who are growing up to join forces with me, and get them to tackle the young children. This is the only plan I can see any chance of working, as there is literally no one competent to tak a class in the Church Hall at short notice except Miss Geves and Mrs Miles ..... neither of whom seems to come to Church much. Of course, it is a great pity Miss Gault has fallen off, as I had great hopes of her. I have forgotten the other points you raised, except about the dustbin, which is Mr Wood's province! I apologise for this long note, but I am up to the eyes in work just now, and could not see an opportunity of having a talk with you until sometime next week. Yours sincerely,"
