- Scope and ContentCongratulations on Grantham's appointment as a Secretary of State. Attended Lord Shelburne's Levée and acquainted him of his situation. Advised by Lord Grantley afterwards to present a Memorial at next Levée. Did so and was told his case would be considered. Waiting upon Mr. Lawrence, at Robinson's advice, who presented Memorial to late Marquis of Rockingham. Expressed desire of being made Collector of the Tax on Coasting and Inland vessels around Liverpool. Request to be presented to Lord John Cavendish. Prefers appointment to pension, no objections to going to West Indies or America, will be satisfied however with anything Grantham or Robinson can do. Certificate in hands of Mr. Rowe at Treasury to prove Horner intended to remain in America etc... Copy of Memorial enclosed [L30/15/27/1] and letters to prove his intention of leaving with Lord Dunsmore.
