Scope and Content
Sale catalogue for freehold residential, sporting and agricultural estate of Colworth by order of executors of Sir Albert E. Bowen on 1st December 1924. Includes plan. Annotated with prices.
The estate is in the parishes of Sharnbrook, Souldrop, Odell, Knotting, Higham Park and Wymington. Includes the imposing Italian style mansion of Colworth built 1720 by John Antonie and since modernised in every detail; seated in a grandly timbered old Park approached by two lodge guarded entrances. The whole extending to 2,337 acres; 1,865 acres being in hand and of which vacant possession will be given. Includes the Lordship of the Manor or Reputed Manor of Colworth. To be offered for sale by auction in blocks or in lots by Knight, Frank & Rutley on 1st December 1924.
Brochure is annotated with prices and includes a note 'Lots 32,33,37,38,39,40, Timber B. & C., field 130/1 out of lot 34, sold to Mr Harold Bowen privately. The remainder sold as a whole on Friday last and is now offered for sale by the new vendor with consent of the executors.'
