    Recites articles of marriage of 11 April 1685 made between i) Thomas Baynes; ii) John Buroughs of Tandridge, Surrey, gentleman and Joane Lillliot; which in itself recites: in consideration of intended marriage between Thomas Baynes and said Mary [nee Lilliott] now his wife and the marriage portion Baynes should purchase freehold lands of inheritance amounting to the yearly rent or value of £50 and settle them to the uses of a) himself during his life, b) then to Mary his wife during her natural life, c) then to Thomas Baynes' heirs. Also that all the lands Mary was seised of should be Baynes's to the value of £400 and Baynes has received from Joane Lilliot £450 more as the rest of the marriage portion, [£950 marriage portion altogether] Recites indenture dated 1 October 1690 made between i) Thomas Baynes and Mary his wife, ii) Joane Lilliot and John Faldo whereby i) sold to ii) divers securities, bonds etc. amounting to £502 in value in trust. Baynes settles Mary's property to uses. Fine for uses - whereas a purchase of lands or tenements that lay convenient for making up the said lands and tenements so settled - rent of £50 Recites purchase until he could get conveyance in Bedford and Buckinghamshire he was contented Recites purchase of messuage for £140 in Bedford Recites decree of Chancery, friendly This indenture witnesses £370, rest of £502, Brace to Faldo, Newnham Leys late in occupation of Wiffins To uses as above.
