    Now pleno Jure Rr. of above Parish. Share of money from it small this year. Potentially much greater so will only let his friends into Secret. Account of living received whilst in Spain, not exaggerated. Gratitude for introduction to Mr. Constable, will be a useful acquaintance. Has offered assistance in settling anything. Estimate of £178 for dilapidations needs settling. Comments on predecessor's neglect [not named]. Obliged for accommodation at Whitehall. Mr. Browne grateful for use of Newby. Intending to visit again with Waddilove, only 30 miles from hence, though paid Post Chaise for 50. Expecting to see a forward Spring there. Will occasionally live at Cherry Burton but Topcliffe will be his house. Turnpike Road, re-routing, brief discussion of & full newspaper account by George Allen, Clerk to said road. [Newspaper extract enclosed - present]. Saw many of Grantham's friends in town but not Lord Fitzm. or brother. Sir James P. [Porter] said his Intelligence was good etc..."the only person who had any Right to think about it, had really thought of & mentioned you [Grantham]".
