  • Scope and Content
[Reference to an unnamed person], "an oddity" they were acquainted with together, education and his imperfect grasp of the french language. Lord Stormont to inform him of Etiquettes. He wrote a letter to the Comtesse two days after he left his name with Comte de Viry. She hasn't answered it but if he returns will take pleasure in discussing his travels with him. Seems to remember laughing with Waddilove at how this person imagined women were in love with him in Spain. Wishes Grantham & Frederick had passed their Carnaval there. Banter regarding their pretensions to youth. No men or women dance at the Queen's Balls beyond the age of 22. Balls occur twice weekly besides les fetes pour l'Archidue. Describes magnificent dress and expense involved. Cost many of them 100 Louis in feathers only. Some heads so high they had to sit in bottom of coaches on way to Versailles. Invites them to Sacre and Fetes to be given in August for Madame Clothildes marriage. Compliments to Monsieur Sparr. Monsieur Clubstock is there. Hasn't seen him. Thinks he met with Mr. [?Mrs] Bindley.
