Court of Exchequer) [recites Will dated 5 December 1678, of Sir George Carteret, knight and baronet, late Vice-Chamberlain of H.M. Household, whereby he devised all his lands in Ireland, "all the Island of Alderney", his "out rents" in the Isle of Jersey, and his plantations of New Jersey, and his estate and terms for years in Cranborne near Windsor (county Berkshire), to the Earl of Sandwich and the Earl of Bath [etc.], in trust for payment of his debts and legacies] … In the said premises [armorial seal]
