    The history of the properties can be briefly summarised as follows: 1 November 1917 Francis Noel Butler and Edward Geoffrey St Aubyn (as mortgagees to secure repayment of £2911) sold to Percy Bygraves of Upper Caledecote, market gardener, for £480, 6 cottages at Upper Caldecote (1 acre 2 rods) 1 November 1917 Said mortgagees conveyed to Charles Bygrave, market gardener, for £700, 5 cottages at Upper Caldecote (1 acre 1 rod 24 poles) 8 December 1917 Charles Bygraves mortgages siad cottages with the Capital and Counties Bank 16 October 1918 Percy Bygraves sells to Charles Bygraves for £500, the said 6 cottages 26 December 1928 Charles Bygraves dies. Probate of his will granted to his daughters Eliza Ethel Bygraves and Martha Hilda Bygraves 2 August 1935, 21 June 1938, 29 January 1943, 19 May 1955 - the above cottages are mortgaged with the Sandy Building Society to secure various advantages (repaid by 13 April 1965) 28 June 1955 Martha Hill Bygraves dies 31 June 1956 Eliza Ethel Bygraves assents to the vesting in herself of the said 6 cottages know as 31,23,25,27,29 and 31 Biggleswade Road, subject to mortgage and further charges 31 December 1956 Similar assent as regards 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 Biggleswade Road 1 October 1971 The executors of Eliza Ethel Bygraves sold to Swannell Builders for £7500, a peice of land with frontage to Biggleswade Road [near Royal Oak] 1 October 1971 Acknowledgement of right of Swannell Brothers to production of deeds 15 October 171 Legal charge. Swannell Brothers with Barclays Bank 16 December 1971 Swannell Brothers (and Barclays Bank) sell to Francis Edward Hope and Rita Linda Hope, for £5825 (to be paid to the Bank in part satisfaction of a mortgage) plot no 4 on the Biggleswade Road site, (where cottages, now demolised, formerly stood) [late 7 Oaks Crescent], and also another peice of land with a garage on it 21 April 1978 7 Oak Crescent and garage sold to Colin and Linda Ann Edwards for £14,000 9 September 1980 The Edwards sold to Marion Jane Wright of 13 Oaks Crescent, for £1,300, a peice of land and garage
