    Will and Codicil of Dame Dorothy Every (widow of Sir John Every, baronet) … Devises property (except her Manor of Hardwick) in Ettwall (county Derbyshire) to cousin Godfrey Meynell of Langley (county Derbyshire, esquire and heirs of his body, and for want of issue, to Reverend John Every (2nd son of Sir Simon Every of Eggington (county Derbyshire), baronet), and his heirs for ever. And devises her lands at Hanson Grange and Eggington and her Manor of Hardwick in county Derbyshire, and her lands in Houghton Conquest, to Henry Every (eldest son and heir apparent of said Sir Simon), and heirs for ever, charged with the payment of the following annuities, legacies and bequests: £100 to Right Honourable Isabella Finch (sister to the Earl of Winchelsea and Nottingham) £100 to the Honourable Sir William Stanhope, knight, and £50 to his daughter Elizabeth Stanhope 20 guineas for a ring to Mrs Fitzherbert of Derby, widow £300 to cousin Dorothy Turner (wife of William Turner of Derby) £300 to cousin Francis Meynell, apothecary in Derby £620 to goddaughter Mary Gretton £50 to Mrs Meynell of Langly, widow £100 to Mrs Ellinor Curzon £800 to aforesaid Godfrey Meynell, esquire £50 to late servant Sarah (now wife of Richard Ironmonger of Derby), with an annuity of £10 annuity of 40s to Mrs Lydia Hodgkinson senior of Derby £50 to tenant Thomas Lowe of New Close in Ettwall £300 to Mrs Ashby (wife of Cornet Ashby) 50 guineas apiece to Rowland Cotton of Ettwall, esquire, and his lady, and 25 guineas to their daughter Catherine Cotton 5 guineas apiece to Reverend Dr. Grey and his lady, and 10 guineas apiece to their daughters Mary and Sukey Grey £200 apiece to Mary and Ann Every (daughters of said Sir Simon Every) her library to George Gretton of Jesus College, Cambridge one half of her wearing apparel to Miss Gretton; and the other half to Mary and Ann Every Witnesses: J Pemberton, William Fallons junior and Allen Brown 11 Dec 1746 [Codicil, dated 19 October 1747 … bequeathes an additional 275 guineas to Catherine Cotton, and charges the lands devised to her executor Henry Every, esquire with payment thereof Witnesses: William Fallons, Joseph Twemlow and John Tatam] [copy]
