Mr. Pitt's speech; government of India. Fritz doubts if effectual Regulations can be made. Present plan to steer clear of the great objections to Mr. Fox's scheme etc.. Board to consist of Treasurer of the Navy, the Paymasters & Vice Treasurers of Ireland. Duchess of Argylle (Elizabeth Gunning) resigned as Lady of the Bedchamber due to ill health. Lady Harcourt to succeed her. Lord Gage to marry Miss Wilmot and Sir John Dick to marry Lady Hatton Finch. Attended full Levee. Grantham's employments at Newby discussed. Weather very hot. Hasn't seen Draper, concerned Grantham will receive no money till after first payment of loan made. Hasn't received Grantham's letters from Ireland. Before building commences "you will have contributed sufficiently to the Brick Tax". Unsure what to do about coals. Harry Pelham still coughs but is better. Divides his time between Lewes & Stanmer. Know no more about Princes of Wales' intention of visiting Brighthelmstone. Latter has been ill. Tom Pelham has thoughts of George's "joining him in Yorkshire for Lakes trip". Bart engaged in Ivelchester election. Mr. Yorke at Colchester [election?], adjourned before finished work before them.
