    Took melancholy ride about grounds after Grantham left. Walked around Park in evening. Took a fine ride to Ponds with Ralph [Worsley], thence to Whitehall & round Hutton Moor. Garden wall goes on fast. Masons cutting stone for the Venetian Window. Mr. Ellis brought Moor game in on way to York. Dick [Worsley] persists in the use of his Blue Stone. His wound is better. Mrs. Waddilove safely delivered of a daughter this morning at 6 a.m. News via Mr. Ramshaw. May dine there on way to Studley on Friday. Rode Fretwell's pony, likes her but too low for winter roads in London. Most of books out of bookcase on Library tables. Billy Smith came to `soother' Bett soon after Grantham gone. Tom Smith takes venison to Archbishop tomorrow. The boys [Worsleys] wish to be remembered to Lady Grantham & the children. Today is Ripley Fair & Billy Horner's birthday.
