- Scope and Contenti) Sir Thomas Crew and William Mountagu ii) Edward, Earl of Sandwich, P.C., K.G., and Edward, Viscount Hinchingbrooke (son and heir apparent of Edward, Earl of Sandwich) iii) Sir George Carterett and wife Dame Elizabeth iv) Sir Philip Carterett, knight (son and heir apparent of Sir George Carterett) and wife Lady Jemmima (eldest daughter of Edward, Earl of Sandwich (In consideration of the marriage formerly had between Sir George Carterett and Elizabeth, and lately between Sir Philip Carterett and Jemmima) …The Manor of Hawnes and the late Chapel or Manor of St Macute with appurtenances [no details] (to hold to ii) to use that the said Sir Philip Carterett shall receive the yearly rent of £800 for the lives of said Sir Philip Carterett and said Sir George Carterett, from the whole of the said property, in trust that if the £800 be 20 days overdue, the said Sir Philip Carterett may distrain to the value thereof, and if 40 days overdue, he may enter on the property. And concerning the property subject to the £800 annuity, to hold to ii) to use of Sir George Carterett for the joint natural lives of Sir George Carterett and Sir Philip Carterett; and concerning the manor house of Hawnes, Dovehouse Close (20 acres), Stable Close (35 acres), 3 closes (72 acres) in occupation of Robert Thorne, to use of Sir George Carterett for life, and, after decease, to use of his wife Elizabeth for life; and concerning the manor house etc., from the decease of Sir George Carterett and wife, and the residue of the said manors etc., to use of Sir Philip Carterett for life; and from his decease, concerning the said manors etc. (except the said manor house etc.), to use of his wife Lady Jemmima, and from her decease, to use of Sir George Carterett; and concerning the said manors, as the said uses determine, to use of Sir Thomas Crew and William Mountagu for life of Sir Philip Carterett, in trust to permit Sir Philip Carterett to take the profits, and after his decease, to use of heirs male; and in default of issue, to use of Edward, Earl of Sandwich, and Viscount Hinchingbrooke for 99 years; on trust, after expiration of the said term, to use of James Carterett (2nd son of Sir George Carterett) for life, and after the determination of that estate, to use of Sir Thomas Crew and William Mountagu for life of James Carterett, in trust to permit James Carterett to take the profits; and then to use of heirs male of said James Carterett).
