    Little success with Dressing Plate commission. Couldn't find Mr. Bolton, not in Cannon Street. Gray's have never made a complete toilette. Jeffery's likewise. Asked latter for an estimate of cost etc... Monmorin's watch finished this week. Mr. Wilkie in Scotland, doesn't know when he returns to Spain. Mr. Webber, who made Queen of Spain's Iron Chest, wants it sold for £50. Lady Hertford impressed with Grantham's attentions to her son. May not be in England soon enough to go to America with Admiral Arbuthnot. Lord Cornwallis taking Harry Brodrick there with him. Sending Sir Joshua Reynold's discourse. Shipped by White with Bible etc... if no quicker method. Same time as Dr. Madan's case. Children's picture [niece & nephew Parker] delayed by Sir Joshua's preoccuption with Exhibition. Describes Lady Elisabeth, Mr. Burrel & Lord John. Latter laments Tom's confinement to his Regiment. Queen's House. Lady Anne Howard there "a perfect Jezabell". Lady Julia lives with the Delme's, "that house & Lady Melbourne's being perfect Coffee houses. Dowager Lady Carlisle in great debt; Auctioned her effects, jewels etc... Bishop of Landaff's [Divorce] Bill passed House of Lords [see L 30/14/333/187*]. Opposition expected in other House. Ranelagh; assisted at tea twice, with Mrs. G. Hardinge & then Mrs. Musters. Vauxhall might be endured on 1 May if weather continues. Duke of Gloucester has taken Sir Gregory Page's on Blackheath, recently inhabited by Duke of Suffolk.
