    Millbanke's little girl clever & sadly spoilt. Has also seen old friend Ralph Milbanke, he is a Lieutenant Colonel of the Militia but may give up on pretext of illness. Lives next door to Lady Robinson in Edward St., West[minster?] Mrs. Hardinge died. Dined at Lord Pelham's thence to Opera. No seat available so stayed in Coffee Room etc... The Comick Operas on Tuesday nights are miserably thin. Dined at Lady Stapylton's with Bishop of Oxford & Mrs. Butler, Mrs. Aislabie, Miss Lockwood & Bob Waller. Saw Aislabie's nephew Laurence, aged 14, at Charterhouse. Home to Grosvenor Square every Sunday. Met all the Pelham's and Lady Albermarle at Mrs. Stainforth's. Latter doesn't follow dress fashion. Dined with Tom Pelham, stayed in, he'd caught cold at Milbankes. Great dinner in Stratton St. for all the Middleton's, Brodricks & Townshends. No room for Fritz. Went to see Falstaff's `Merry Wives of Windsor'. Very ill acted. The farce was the `Wonders of Derbyshire" a pantomime. Went to Levee. Invited to dine at Almodobars, not on Ash Wednesday, Fast Day to be 10 February. Queen did not come out at Court. Went to an Assembly at Mrs. Noel's, lost a pool of Commerce. Left early. Didn't attend Masquerade at Opera House. Little girl [Theresa] arrived from Saltram and is well. Mr. Parker, Nanny and boy [Jack] arrive Sunday. Child [unnamed]in London, between 3 & 4 years old, has amazing talent on harpischord. Frequent visits to Chico. Presented Draper with Vicuna suit. Mr. Stanley, Lord Darby's brother, is to marry Lady Laura Waldegrave. Duchess of Gloucester appointed Lord Peterborough's daughter, Lady Mary Mordaunt, as Lady of the Bedchamber. Lady Harriet Spencer, Duchess of Devonshire's sister, presented at Court. Not handsome, good figure, well dressed etc. Come soon to see Duchess [of Devonshire’s] beauty, likely to deteriorate soon. Miss Brodrick, showy, tall & fair. Walking all over new parts of town with Eden; Portland Place & Square, Manchester Square, Weymouth St., Harley St. etc... Post Chaise at Mr. Norton's the Coachmaker. He thinks best plan to fit it up for another voyage rather than sell. Dining at Eden's with Carlisle. Santa Maria's gone. Large bough blown of tree in Lord Fife's garden, view from theirs opened. Still can't see Embankment at Somerset House from windows. Lord Middleton wants to buy house, which his father built in Charles St., from Lord Craven. If he can't will have late Lady Litchfield's being sold for benefit of Oxford University; establishment of Clynical Lectures. Dr. Francisco Sobral will explain to Grantham. Met the Fish [Crawfurd] who looks ill. Fritz's sword much admired etc...Little girl liked his Astracan coat. Commodore Hotham arrived safely at Barbados. West Indies thought to be settling.
