    Usually dines at Sackville Street. Mr. Parker down at Saltram on Militia business. His little boy send his love. Received a present of a handsome pair of buckles from him. Will send some similar ones when can. Has been to Clay's, many beautiful things but "as is often the case in our manufacturers...they begin to neglect a little the finishing of their works". Derbyshire China at same house, described. All that is wanted for desert is there, as well as Heywood’s, in marble. Has Grantham received advice from Rome? Wants to arrange where Grantham's things are to be sent. Looking forward to his company again. Dined at George Hardinge’s who lived in the last house in Adelphi Terrace. Wife handsome and of good fortune. Has been to Opera, supped at Mrs. Townshend's. Georgiana much grown, second daughter pretty. Lady Pelham confined with sore throat. At Ranelagh last night with Lord Pelham and Tom. Very full, many new faces and figures come out. Lady Granby very handsome. Played at Commerce at Lady Harrington's with Lady Crosbie i.e. Miss Sackville. Lady Anna Maria Stanhope talked of for Lord Powis "she would be more than well without her eyes". More of daily routine. Has bought a second hand Vis a Vis [carriage]; described. Cost 70 guineas. Crimson paper in bed chamber put up by Pelhams will do until house put into repair. Will see John St. John about lease. Mr. Vanburgh bought Lady Vanburgh’s for £1600 and has spent £2000 upon it, adding two pavilions. Visiting new parts of town; describes features of new houses, cornices, medallons, patenas, bas-reliefs, utensils, etc. Visited the King's Apartment with Aunt, saw the same portrait by Rubens as is at Madrid, of Phillip II on horseback with Victory accompanying him. Thinks it's not Philip but Archduke Albert of Austria. Will write through Portugal and France alternatively. Lawgun, messenger, not yet arrived. King & Queen in town tonight, supposes fleet will sail immediately. Dr. Robertson and the Fish [Crawfurd] send compliments. Hasn't been able to meet Lord Ossory or Lord Robert.
